人生には多くの通路がある。妊娠、出産、婚約、結婚、葬式、事故，事件などによるRite of Passage ( 通過儀礼) の季節が訪れ別の道に入るための「部屋と廊下への一種の分離」による新しい自分に生まれ変わる出来事が起こる。それと同じように音楽の変容も短くとも10年に１度は魔法と宗教の基礎を持つイニシエーションとよばれる音楽変容、通過儀礼のサイクルが訪れる。そうして音楽もまた境界の横断を繰り返して新しいひとつの流れ、文脈を形成する 。Amon TobinのremixによるVelvet Undergroundの「Venus Furs」の映像と、SF小説宇宙開発フィルムJohn Williamsの作曲と、Jerry GoldsmithとGyörgy Ligetiの作品によってインスパイアーされた彼の最新作 ” Dark Jovian ” には、見上げる夜の空に輝く木星に、星の流れに身を委ね自身の悪運と困難を取り除こうと、幸運を夢見るRite of Passegeの暗喩が聴こえてくる。ちょっと古い話だが、ブライアン・イーノと当時彼が住んでいたロンドンのメイダベールの自宅でインタヴューしたとき、そこにはロキシーミュージック時代の奇抜なファッションでも注目を集めていたイーノの中性的でセンシュアルな姿はなかった。あの頃イーノは交通事故に遭い、生死を彷徨いそれに起因するRite of Passageという意識変容をオブキュアやアンビエントへと繋げ、新しく生まれ変わっていた。2015年、尖端音楽にはまた3.11以後の大きな流れ、Rite of Passageの季節が訪れ始めている。
